Woodwardia unigemmata, or Jeweled Chain Fern, is a large, evergreen fern known for its dramatic, arching fronds that emerge with a striking red or copper tint before maturing to green, offering bold texture in shade gardens. It can reach significant sizes (3-7 ft), thrives in moist, humus-rich soil, and produces plantlets (bulbils) at the tips of its fronds, allowing for easy propagation as it forms spreading clumps. 

Excellent for woodland gardens, borders, or containers, providing bold texture and color.

plant in rich, moist, well-drained, neutral to acidic soil in partial shade, protecting it from harsh sun and drying winds

Keep soil consistently moist, watering deeply and regularly, especially when establishing.

Apply a dry mulch in winter to protect the crown from frost.
