This rhizomatic plant produces stems over 1 ft tall in spring which turns into whorls of beautiful thick leaves on top of which the flower opens. When the seed pod is mature in winter it splits open revealing bright red seeds. Unusual and ornamental. Cold hardy.
Mature flowering size rhizomes offered.
Excellent for woodland planting in temperate climates. Makes equally good pot plants. Grow in well drained mixture of garden soil rich in humus, sand in equal proportion. Keep moist during winter.
